About Chemistry Department

Establishment year 1972.

Chemistry department is biggest Department in college and is committed to fostering a respectful workplace culture. The department offers both theoretical and practical discipline. The staff at the department are qualified and Strive to provide a safe, inclusive and fair environment to all the students.

The department holds a faculty strength of Twelve teaching staff members and Eight non-teaching staff member. Three faculty members are Ph. D, Two have passed NET examination and three have passed SET examination.

To ensure quality education, the department consist of highly competent and motivated teachers, well equipped spacious and safety four laboratories and students are constantly encouraged to pursue higher education.We arrange orientation programme of library and industrial study tour for S.Y. and T. Y. B. Sc. students. In the year 2019-20, twenty four students got admission for M.Sc course.

  1. Mr. Sakhare Shamrao V. (H.O.D): Completed 31 years at Vartak college and H.O.D since April 2017. Active participation in many college committees and worked as chairman of discipline committee and secretary of special cell. 16 years as a member in special cell. Member of TYBSc practical exam of university of Mumbai.
  2. Mrs. Bendale Vandana T.: Completed 29 years at Vartak college, active participation in many college committees. Excellent performance as a chairperson of Women Development Cell. Participation in different workshops. Paper setter of TYBSc theory exam of university of Mumbai. Participated and presentedresearch project in “Avishkar research convention” and selected for enter zonal university “Avishkar research convention”.
  3. Mrs. Khot Neelam S.: Completed 28 years at Vartak college. Active participation in different college committees. Participation in workshops conducted under university of Mumbai.
  4. Dr. Andhale Mahadev L.: Completed 27 years at Vartak college. Achieved Ph.D in due course. Working as a programme officer in NCC. Excellent performance as chairman of discipline committee. Participation in many social activities like Blood donation camp, Tree plantation, Traffic control police etc.
  5. Mr. Sonawane Sandeep K.: Completed 26 years at Vartak college. Active participation in different college committees.
  6. Dr. Shah Willy J.: Completed 11 years at Vartak college. He is Student of Vartak college. Completed Government minor research project. Published paper in national journal. Guide of Ph.D student’s participation in different college committees.
  7. Mrs. Bhatu Minakshi N.: Completed 8 years at Vartak College. Active participation in different college committees. Excellent performance in NSS and arranged camps in rural areas. Participation in workshops, webinars and orientation programmes. Published paper at national level and completed faculty development programmes.
  8. Dhodi Sachin k.: Completed 4 years at Vartak college. Active participation in different college committees. Completed Webinars, orientation course, seminar and workshops. Attended conference, coordinator of online T.Y.B.Sc class, active member of Online college exam committee. Qualified PET exam in year 2020-2021

Students

Many of our students are very well placed in different corners of the world. They have cleared many of the competitive examinations.

  1. Miss. Gaikwad Chitra V.: Students of TYBSc batch of 2007-2008. she completed M.Sc in in Organic chemistry from university of mumbai and cleared SET exam in 2016 and is working with us for last three years.
  2. Mrs. Kubal Darshana A.: Student of TYBSc batch of 2010-2011. she secured first place in the department as well as in the college. she cleared SET in December 2020 and currently working with us.
  3. Mr. Karlekar Praveen: Student of TYBSc batch of 2011-2012. After completing M.Sc in Organic chemistry he cleared SET examination and did Ph.D from Institute of chemical technology.
  4. Miss. Memon Arshi: Student of TYBSc batch of 2015-2016. she secured first place in department as well as in college after M.Sc. she qualified SET examination in December 2020 and currently working with us.
  5. Miss. Gupta Lalita: Student of TYBSc batch of 2016-2017. she secured first place in department as well as in the college. after M.Sc she qualified GATE examination in the year 2020.
  6. Miss. Jadhav Neha: Student of TYBSc batch of 2020-21 and qualified IIT-JAM in the year 2020 before even attempting her last semester currently she joined M.Sc at jaipur NIT.
  7. Miss. Kumhar Saroj: Student of TYBSc batch of 2018-19 after M.Sc she cleared SET examination December 2020.

Departmental Activities

The departmental activities are conducted for the overall development of the student. the students are constantly motivated, encouraged and guided for competitive examinations. the department conducts orientation programmes with library for S.Y. B.Sc and T.Y.B.Sc students and industrial study tour for T.Y.B.Sc students.

To score high grades in the university examination online test are arranged for the T.Y.B.Sc, S.Y.B.Sc as well as F.Y.B.Sc students. the department also celebrated “National science day” with all science Departments.

Head of the departments support for their staff for orientation programmes, workshops, refresher courses and research work.

Facilities

Within the widespread campus of the college we have chemistry building with four laboratories, cabin for H.O.D and a staffroom. Airy and well spaced classroom are utilised to provide healthy and hygienic condition to students. There is good infrastructure of laboratories for running practical courses efficiently. laboratories are with first aid box and cease fire in.

Along with the staff members, the department has skilled lab. technicians who help the staff and students to set-up their practical’s efficiently. The department also possesses a computer and printer which is used to print Question paper, test paper and for notice.

Different types of study models are available to enhance the imagination of the students to understand the topic in detail. whole chemistry department is under CCTV camera.
