About English Department

The Department of English was one of those that started with the inception of the college in 1971. The department offers a total of six courses from the first year to the third in English Literature as well Compulsory courses like Communication Skills in English at F.Y.B.A. and Business Communication at F.Y.B.Com.

Special attention is given to students of these two classes through tutorials. Till 2011, the Department, like the other programmes in the college, followed the annual pattern of teaching-learning. In 2011, under the guidelines of the University, the department adopted the CBSGS semester pattern. It now follows the CBCS pattern.

The Department of English is one of the few in the college with all confirmed staff members having  PhD degrees, a minor research project and a number of research publications.

The Department borrows reference books from the library for the whole year and lends them to student learners who wish to make their own notes. Many are given training in making notes on topics in the syllabus. Guest lectures are arranged whenever possible to introduce learners to a different kind of learning experience.

Many of our students are working as teachers in schools and colleges in and around Vasai.
