About Physics Department

The physics department of Vidyavardhini’s  Annasaheb  Vartak college was established in the year 1971. At the undergraduate level, we have B.Sc (Physics) and with qualified and dedicated faculties. The department has a plan to start M.Sc (Physics) with a specialization in Electronics for which the proposal has already been sent to Mumbai University.

The vision of our department is to provide quality education to students of Physics. We aim to well equip them with the skills to make the change for the betterment of society. To make this vision happen, we wish to ‘Reach to all unreached’.

We have a well-equipped laboratory with an internet facility. Our dept. spreads over 8000 sq.ft with dedicated laboratories for F.Y.B.Sc, S. Y.B.Sc, and T.Y.B.Sc classes.

At a time 4 batches of 20 students each can be accommodated, and the laboratory has adequate storage facilities. Major work of circuit designing building and custom-made apparatus for various experiments is done in the laboratory itself. The innovative idea of using tube light instead mercury source for performing optics experiments was appreciated by the NAAC peer team.

Students

Our students have participated and won medals and trophies in various intercollegiate completions viz. science exhibition Phyzex, Gyan Manthan, Stemfizzics, They have also participated in the educational seminar and presented a paper at the National level.

Nearly 40% of our students go to Post Graduation every year and we are expecting a hike in this once the department start the M.Sc program. Most of the students are well placed; some are in research and have their start-ups.
